Discover the Ariège section of the Pyrénées.Many paths criss-cross the Ariège section of the Pyrénées. The path which links Palmiers to Mirepoix is one of a number of established regional walks, the quality of which are assured by the Ariège tourist board and the National Forest Association.The path is 20 miles ong and passes through mountain meadows, taking you to the wonderful Rupestrian church and the Vals museum.The Saint-Michel path passes historical monuments which lie hidden in the forest.Don't be surprised if you bump into pilgrims on the Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle path, which leads to Santiago de Compostella in Spain.All in all this is a wonderful network of footpaths, all of which pass monuments or places of interest. In pilgrims' footsteps: walkers can go for 32 km across the Pamiers region and discover the magnificent Abbaye de Cailloup.
